General Elections and Plymouth Constituencies

The parliamentary constituencies have been redrawn since the last election, and there are now two in Plymouth: Sutton and Devonport, and Moor View. In the coming election, the Green Party will be offering people in Plymouth the chance to vote for a real change, by voting for their candidates.

Tony Brown - Candidate for Sutton and Devonport

Tony Brown works in Higher Education. He has taught in primary schools and worked as a science teacher in secondary schools. Whilst living in Cornwall he was a primary school governor. He has also worked as a counsellor for Relate, a family and couple counselling service.

Tony has a background in science and is committed to personal and local action to live a more sustainable life. He does not own a car, uses public transport for work, has turned his small garden over to vegetables and is just about to take on an allotment. He believes that small changes at a personal level add up to a big change when people work together in communities.

He is committed to finding the best ways to balance the need for enterprise and local business. Keeping people in work is vital if they are to contribute to the economy and to the country’s future. Making jobs as green as possible should be the focus of our work. Tony is committed to a European approach to sustainability and counteracting the effects that are causing global warming. Setting tough but realistic targets for greening the economy can only be done by working together at a European level.

The strength of the green party is a commitment to clear goals for sustainability at an individual and community level, and an inclusive approach to working within Europe to establish the right legal framework to protect future generations.
