The Plymouth
Green Party consists of a growing number of people who
believe that the mainstream parties are heading in the wrong direction.
The Green Party puts quality of
life before gross domestic product. Traditional Parties appeal to the
individual and short term without considering the next few decades, let
alone future generations. It is our children and grandchildren who will
pay the price for the mistakes we are making today! Climate change,
fossil fuel depletion and environmental damage are becoming more and
more evident.
We are a political party that
has the courage to change our society and our economy in ways that care
for the future, not just the short term.
The Green Party is the only
party to
face the challenges ahead and which will make the changes we need to
make.
Green Councillors in other towns
and cities have already made a difference.
- In Kirklees, one twentieth of the solar capacity of
the entire UK is installed, thanks to three Green Councillors holding
the balance of power and the Housing portfolio
- In Norwich, Green councillors have influenced the
council's budget to introduce the first plastic bottle recycling banks
as well as improved recycling facilities, and helped residents opposed
private development on school playing fields.
- Oxford's 7-strong Green Group, who hold the balance
of power, secured agreement for a new Oxford Renewable Energy Services
Company to provide residents and businesses with affordable, secure,
green energy as well as a new energy efficiency and renewable energy
scheme for Council tenants
